Local unemployed vets have chance for new jobs

There’s an event coming up this week we’d like local veterans who are searching for employment to be aware of.

The Upper Peninsula Veteran’s Community Action Team is hosting a virtual job fair for vets from 1-4 p.m. Thursday.

This event is free of charge and is a great opportunity for veterans to connect with local employers who are hiring now, organizers say.

We’re told that there are upwards of 1,000 positions of all types now available in the Upper Peninsula. With the pandemic continuing, many employers are struggling with finding suitable workers to do the job.

Granted, many of these positions are entry level or in the service industry. In other words, you’re probably not going to become independently wealthy working in these areas.

That said, getting important work experience and the proverbial foot in the door can be an invaluable resume entry going forward.

Pre-registration is required at: https://app.brazenconnect.com/a/Michigan/e/Kdq8r

Call Upper Peninsula Michigan Works at 1-800-285-WORKS for assistance with completing the registration.

We hope droves of unemployed or under employed veterans take advantage of this event.

The experience could be life changing.
