Teachers deserve much praise in pandemic

The National Education Association has designated this as National Teacher Week and we have to say, now, more than ever, the value of good teachers is evident.

With schools closed to the coronavirus pandemic, many parents have had to be more hands-on with their children’s daily education.

We have seen scads of social media posts in which many parents are expressing both gratitude for the education their children had experienced already and wonder at how teachers do what they do, day after day.

Teachers continue to do their work through internet sessions with pupils. And many have contacted their students to let them know how much they are missed.

These are strange times indeed, but we have been impressed at how many innovative methods have been used to keep learning at the forefront.

We encourage you to take the time to thank teachers for all that they do, not just in a time of crisis, but every day in our nation’s classrooms. Dedicated, creative and caring are just some of the words to describe teachers.

Awestruck, amazed and grateful are just some words to describe us.

We don’t know what the future will bring for our educational systems in America, but we do know that teachers will play an important role in shaping plans that are best for students.
