Ishpeming Rotary’s Night of Romance a worthy effort

Valentine’s Day may have already passed but that doesn’t mean romance has left the area.

In fact, one very special event — The Rotary Club of Ishpeming’s 36th annual An Evening of Romance –is still coming up.

This event will be on Feb. 29 at the Grand Ballroom in Northern Michigan University’s Northern Center in Marquette.

It’s a chance for dinner and dancing, but more importantly, it’s an evening designed to raise funds to help the community.

As the poster for this event reads: “Dress up, have fun and ‘Connect the World’ through our community!”

An Evening of Romance’s entertainment will be provided by the Westerly Winds Big Band.

The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with a social. Dinner is at 7 p.m. with live and silent auctions and the dance to follow.

Tickets are $75 per person or sponsor a table of 10 for $750. They can be purchased by contacting club president Lance Peterson at 906-250-7988 or any Ishpeming Rotarian.

Proceeds from the gala go to local community events and service projects.

For those unaware, Rotary is “an international service organization that finds a way to improve the quality of life for people in their communities, serve the public interest, and recognize the importance of empowering youth through local clubs with the motto ‘Service Above Self.'”

We thank the Ishpeming Rotary and all the other Rotary clubs around the peninsula and around the country for doing good work for their communities.

We hope the Northern Center Grand Ballroom is packed with people having fun while raising funds for important projects and events, making this Leap Night one to remember.

Starting at $3.23/week.
