Weekend in Marquette replete with things to do

After last weekend’s absolutely fabulous Hiawatha Music Festival comes another wonderful weekend for Marquette residents and visitors alike, this one with three events in the city.

First up is the Blueberry Festival in downtown Marquette on Friday, which offers a full day of fun, including a youth talent showcase that’s not to be missed. It’s a day of blueberry treats as well, making for one of the tastiest weekends of the summer.

Then Saturday and Sunday brings Art on the Rocks and the OutBack Art Festival.

The 61st annual Art on the Rocks will be at Mattson Lower Harbor Park, right along the beautiful Lake Superior shore. The times are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Art on the Rocks is one of the finest art shows in the country, attracting more than 140 artists and upwards of 10,000 people each year.

In its 26th year, the OutBack Art Fair takes place in Shiras Park — known to many as Picnic Rocks — along Marquette’s glorious shoreline. This arts and craft show/sale takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

These three events are among quite a list of great things going on in Marquette County this weekend.

If you haven’t been out to enjoy summer, this may be a perfect weekend to do just that.
