CURTIS, MI – Randy L. Lepley, age 64, passed away October 29, 2026, in Marquette MI, after an unexpected heart attack.
He was born August 7, 1962, to Don Lewis and Rose Marie (Langdon) Lepley (both now deceased). A lifetime Michigan guy, Randy was raised in Harrison; lived several years in the Midland area; and resided for the past many years in beautiful downtown Curtis. Surviving are two sons, Brandon Lepley (Emily Stanfield), Laingsburg MI; and Matthew (Jacy) Lepley, Midland MI; along with their children and step/children: Madison, Mariah, Makaila, Wyatt, Oliver, Gabriel, and Emerson. Also surviving are siblings: Nora (Doug) Edwards, Sheridan MI; Rex (Deb) Lepley, Rockford MI; Teresa (David) Brigham, Rock Hill SC; Roger (Barb) Lepley, Harrison MI; Brian (Karie) Lepley, Gladwin MI; Lisa Lepley (James Derbaum), Phoenix AZ; Ruth (Mike) Knapp, Glendale AZ. Brother James Lepley died in 2007. Randy also leaves MANY nieces, nephews, and other relatives who mourn him, as do all his friends and acquaintances, including his neighbor Russell, and others from Curtis who were very special to Randy.
Randy was dedicated to his work and took great pride in his handyman/construction skills. No job too big or too small. With a limited budget, often using refurbished materials, he could produce a one-of-a-kind masterpiece in a home remodeling project. Between jobs, you could find him on the water somewhere, fishing and enjoying nature. Most nights you could also find him enjoying a beer or two at the Shipwreck or the Tally Ho.
Randy had a great attitude; never complained, never judged anyone. A very independent man, he loved the UP and especially liked living in Curtis. Always community-minded, he gave generously of his time and talents, helping whenever he could. He grew his hair long. At least once he participated in a fundraiser where people paid to see him cut off his ponytail; then he donated the proceeds to the cause. He kept in touch with his family “below the bridge” during an annual July canoe trip on the Manistee River where he helped make 30 years of memories. He was a great wit. His style was quiet; he sat back and listened to a story, then when least expected, would deliver a one-liner that cracked everyone up!
Per Randy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration will be planned for a later date. The family is not requesting any donations. Rest in peace Randy. We will miss you!
