NEGAUNEE TWP, MI – Tom Edward Larson, 64, of Negaunee Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at UP Health System in Marquette while in the care of his loving family. He passed just two hours short of the 43rd anniversary of meeting his wife, Sandy.
Tom was born March 8, 1962, in Ishpeming, MI, to Darrell and Barbara Larson. Tom lived in Negaunee his whole life, other than spending a few treasured years in Bruce Crossing. He was a graduate of Negaunee High School, Class of 1980. Following graduation, Tom was employed by Twin City Dodge for 13 years. In 1993, he transitioned to Marquette Branch Prison working as a Corrections Officer, retiring in 2018.
Tom loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, and spending time at the family camps in Republic and Calumet. Tom was a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Boston Red Sox but enjoyed watching any sports that were on TV. He still found the time to manage his own football team for 22 years in the Negaunee Fantasy Football League. He liked heading over to Gus's Garage and having a few cold ones, while solving life's problems. More than anything, Tom loved spending time with his family and supporting his children and grandchildren participating in their many activities.
Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Sandy (Tuomikoski) Larson of Negaunee Township; his children: Jennifer (Eric Roberts) Larson of Negaunee, Nickolas (Lexi Pomplun) Larson of Negaunee, Derek (Sayumi) Larson of Tokyo, and Jacob (Jenna Sager) Larson of Negaunee; three grandchildren: Maddison and Ailey Roberts, and Miko Larson; Dad: Richard (Sharon) Dunn, two sisters: Terri (Mark) Perala, and Marla (Ray) Petersen; one brother: Patrick (Maria) Dunn; two step-brothers: Glen (Trish) Schoen, and Justin Schoen; in-laws: Tim LaBelle, Randy Tuomikoski, JoLynn Tuomikoski and Jack (Kelly) Tuomikoski; four beloved granddogs: Roo, Berda, Arya, and Ollie; four lifelong friends: Greggy Birch, Rodney Champion, Dale Jarvi, and Lowell Larson; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Larson; mother, Barbara (Kerkela) Dunn; sister, Laura LaBelle; nephew, Tony LeBoeuf; and in-laws: Reva and Bill Tuomikoski, and Carla and David Klein.
The family would like to thank all the nursing personnel at the Cancer Center in Marquette for the excellent care they gave him this past year. They would also like to thank the nurses at UPHS-Marquette for the excellent care he received. And a special thank you to Dr. G for everything.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Negaunee Elks from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 24th, 2026.
