Darlene R. Turner

MARQUETTE, MI – Darlene Rae Turner, 82, of Big Bay, passed away surrounded by family and friends on October 6, 2026.

Darlene’s family was at the heart of everything she did. She always thought of others before herself and would do anything for those she loved. Her generosity, strength and care touched the lives of many.

A pillar in the Big Bay community, Darlene served as a deacon at the Presbyterian Church and worked for the township for over twenty years, including twelve years as township supervisor. She was an accomplished cook and entrepreneur with countless talents and a gift for fixing almost anything. Darlene was instrumental in the development of Thomas Rock, Burns Landing and Draver Park, leaving a lasting legacy in the community she loved.

Darlene is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Clayton Turner; son, Philip (Sue) Turner; daughter, Traci (Ric) Froman; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her seven siblings; Yvonne (the late Clarence) Stortz, Gary (the late Carol) Wilcox, Sharon (Walter) See, Louise Wilcox, Daryl (Lucy) Wilcox, Dennis (Lisa) Wilcox, and Cindy (Gregg) Delmet; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Lena & Graham Wilcox.

A service honoring Darlene’s life will be held at 11 am on Monday, October 12, 2026 at Community Presbyterian Church in Big Bay with Rev. Sudi Layraman officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 am in the church. Burial will take place in the Big Bay Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the services at the church.
