Charlyne Louise Duncan

MARQUETTE, MI – Charlyne Louise "Char" (Teal) Duncan, 83, of Marquette, passed away on October 18, 2026, at Norlite Nursing Center.

Char was born on March 13, 1943, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Fredrick and Addelene (Smith) Teal.

In 1978, Char met the love of her life, Ronald E. Duncan. They were married in 1982 and shared 42 years of love and devotion together. Their life together was a special part of Char's story, and she carried that love with her always.

Char spent many years living in the Kalamazoo area before moving to Florida with Ron in 2015. Following Ron's passing, she moved to Marquette in 2020 to be closer to her daughter.

Throughout her life, Char held a variety of jobs, including working as a homemaker, bartender, factory worker, retail worker, and home health aide. She was a friendly, outgoing person who loved visiting with others and could, as her daughter fondly put it, "talk the paint off of the wall." Char also had a creative side and enjoyed arts and crafts, with a natural talent for many different things.

Char is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Doug) Evans of Big Bay, Michigan; her son, Mark (Dawn) Evans of Kentwood, Michigan; her grandchildren, Brett (Veronica) McCreary of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, and Justin, Hannah, and Jacob Evans, all of Kentwood; her sister, Annette (Teal) Smith of Kalamazoo; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Char was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Duncan; her sons, Steven and Scott Evans; her sister, Donna Squires; and her brother, Norman Teal.

At Char's request, no formal services will be held.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Snowberry Heights, where Char lived for the last six years and found wonderful neighbors and special friends. They also wish to express their gratitude to her private home health and hospice caregivers, U.P. Health System-Marquette, and Norlite Nursing Center for the care and kindness shown to Char.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Michigan Chapter, 309 S. Front St., Suite 233, Marquette, MI 49855.
