MARQUETTE, MI – Timothy “Tim” Preston passed away at U.P. Health Systems hospital after a long illness. Knowing death was near, several of his longtime friends and his wife gathered in his ICU room to celebrate his life.
Raised in Ohio, his family has historical roots in Clark Lake in lower Michigan. He graduated from Whittenburg University with a BA in English. He moved to Marquette in 1978 where he soon became a “Man About Town” tending bar, working as a local musician in bands including The Keltones, Trout Revenge, and the Amnesians. A local business owner, Tim operated Nimbus Turf Irrigation, an underground sprinkler installation business for over 30 years.
Upon retirement Tim moved to his beloved camp in Au Train, Michigan. He is survived by his wife of over 25 years, Gretchen Preston, his brother Bill Preston, Sister Nancy Wyncoop, their families, and his dog, Oakley.
Per his request, his ashes will be scattered in locations he predesignated.
There is no memorial service scheduled at this time.
