MARQUETTE, MI – Steven Thomas "Steve" Rabitaille, age 72, of Marquette, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 18, 2026, in the loving care of his family and caregivers from Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.
Steve was born in Marquette on June 1, 1954, the son of Harvey and Betty Jane (Stedman) Rabitaille. He was raised in Marquette and received his high school GED in 1974.
Following his GED, Steve worked for a short time at Burger Chef in Marquette, where he made hamburgers. He then went to work for Bunny Bread in Marquette, where he worked for several years. Steve later worked for Action Housing as a general contractor before beginning his career with Heat and Frost Insulators, where he worked as a pipe insulator until his retirement.
Steve met Mary Constance, and the two were married on May 4, 1990. Together, they raised their family in Marquette.
Steve enjoyed many things in life, but his greatest joy was being around his family and friends. He loved riding his motorcycle, watching the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions, and sitting on the porch visiting and socializing with those around him. He also enjoyed coaching baseball for the Woolworth's Little League team. Steve had a deep love of music, especially the Beatles, and he enjoyed playing the guitar.
Those who knew Steve will remember him for his stubborn nature, loving heart, and the close bond he shared with his family. Above all, he treasured the time spent with the people he loved.
Steve is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Harrison (Heidi) Norville of Marquette, Laura Rabitaille of Marquette, and Alyssa (Andrew) Koval of Ishpeming; his grandchildren, Mikhayla Norville, Fallyn Norville, Harrison Lee Norville Jr., Gage Hoy, Jenna Hoy, and Everly Koval; and his great-granddaughter, Alayna Thill. He is also survived by his siblings, Louie (Linda), Kenny (Sue), and Bobby (Carrie) Rabitaille, and Susan Garber; brother-in-law Robert Pleaugh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his sisters, Kathy Pleaugh and Janet Rabitaille.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Steve and his family.
In keeping with Steve's wishes, no public services will be held.
