OVERLAND PARK, KS – Paul Bussone, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Overland Park, KS on July 30, 2026, following a courageous five-month battle with stomach cancer.
Paul was born on June 28, 1944, in Ishpeming, Michigan to David and Angela Bussone. He devoted his life to loving and serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and his church in Arizona where he faithfully served as an Elder for many years. He was devoted to his wife, his family and his many friends.
On June 18, 1966, Paul married the love of his life, Elaine Beerling. Together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage and were blessed with 2 sons, Steven and Mark. Paul graduated from Ishpeming High School in 1962 and earned his degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan in 1966. He worked in Milwaukee, WI for 2 years before returning to Ishpeming in 1968. Over the course of his career, he worked as a project engineer for many years and later served as a water engineer in Colorado where he spent the final years of his professional life before retiring.
He was drafted into the United States Army in 1968 and proudly served 2 years with the Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg, Mississippi. An avid sportsman, Paul loved playing golf, softball and tennis. He continued enjoying golf and softball well into his late 70’s and played tennis until he and Elaine moved from Arizona to Overland Park, KS in March, 2026. Throughout his life, he also resided in Michigan, Wisconsin, Colorado, Arizona and now Kansas.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Elaine, his sons Steven (Tarnmy) Bussone and Mark (Heather) Bussone; his cherished grandchildren Brady Bussone, Carter Bussone and Paige Bussone; his brothers Joseph (Sharon) Bussone, Larry (Mary Jo) Bussone and Bruce (Debbie) Bussone, his sister-in-law Mary Zimmerman, his brother-in-law, John Beerling, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Angela Bussone and his sister, Susan Coluccio.
Paul will be remembered for his steadfast faith, servant’s heart, love for his family, and quiet strength. His life was testimony to Christian love, faithfulness and integrity, and his memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 14, 2026, at Mountain View Lutheran Church, Mesa, AZ
