MARQUETTE, MI – Marcia Kay Grigg McCracken, 81, of Marquette, passed away Thursday morning, September 17, 2026, at Teal Lake Senior Living Community under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice.
Marcia was born prematurely with cerebral palsy on November 5, 1944, in Lansing, Michigan, to Jack L. and Helen (Grigg) McCracken. She attended Edna Kiilinen's special education classroom and was a proud graduate of Marquette Senior High School, class of 1967. She was also proud to have attended Northern Michigan University for two years.
Marcia was a lifelong dog lover and took great pride in raising several Grand Champion Scottish Terriers, including Mickey, Tammy, Liz, and Heather.
She was an avid fan of Iron Range hockey, as her father, Jack, was instrumental in starting the program. She later became a devoted fan of Wildcat hockey and enjoyed following the team.
Marcia and her parents spent 11 winters in Florida while her father trained horses there, creating many special memories together.
For the past 10 years, Marcia made her home at Teal Lake Senior Living Community, where she formed many wonderful friendships. She was grateful for the kindness, friendship, support, and exceptional care she received from the staff and those around her.
Marcia is survived by her special friend, Carol Koski and her husband, Don; and her special cousin, Diane Garrett and her husband, Bill. She is also survived by many cousins and friends, including Faye, Mark, and all of her wonderful friends at Teal Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Helen McCracken; her brother, Larry McCracken; and her grandparents, Anson and Ethel McCracken and Jennie and Clint Grigg.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Canale-Tonella Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Solberg officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery.
