TRENARY, MI – Leroy O. Ruska, age 80, of Trenary, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at his home with his wife by his side.
Leroy was born on October 1, 1945 in Chatham, the son of Oscar and Eva (Tweedale) Ruska. Following high school, he enlisted in the Navy. He married his wife, Karen Ruska (Webber), on November 4, 1972. They had their son, Kevin, shortly after their marriage and resided in Chatham before moving to Trenary in 1997.
Leroy later retired from the National Guard. Leroy enjoyed doing carpentry, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his son, granddaughter, and great-grandson.
Leroy is survived by his loving wife Karen Ruska; granddaughter Brierra Workman (Cole Workman); great-grandson Henrik Workman; brothers Bruce Ruska (Mary), Dale Ruska, and Dwayne Ruska.
Leroy was preceded in death by his best friend, hunting and fishing partner, and son Kevin Ruska; sisters Dorothy, Ina, Mary Lou, Patricia, and Deanna; and brother Brian Ruska.
A celebration of life honoring Leroy will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026 from 3pm to 6pm at the New Moon Bar in Eben Junction, Michigan. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes are assisting the Ruska family.
