MARQUETTE, MI - Susan M. Cherrette, age 70, of Marquette, Michigan, entered eternal life on July 25th at 3:35PM, surrounded by her beloved family.
Born August 22, 1955 in Neenah, Wisconsin to Ode and Merle (Koski) Olson, Sue and her family moved to Marquette one year later. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School, Class of 1973 and was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
Sue enjoyed office work and worked at several local agencies before her employment at Marquette-Alger Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) where she retired after 32 years of service. Sue and her husband, Joe, retired on the same day and moved to the family cabin on the shores of Lake Superior on Huron Bay in Skanee where they resided for 12 years. They lived by the motto "work hard/play hard" and enjoyed doing a lot of both together. Sue was passionate about spending time with friends and family and traveling. Nothing made Sue happier or prouder than her kids and grandkids.
Sue is survived by her husband, Joseph Michael Cherrette, whom she married on October 22, 1983; her daughters, Allison Cherrette (Dan Watkins) and Angela Cherrette-Kates (Thomas Michael Kates), Marquette; beloved grandchildren, Indigo Jo Watkins, Wilder Gilbert Watkins, Sadie Grace Kates and Ode Michael Kates, brother Tom (Beth) Olson; sisters-in-law, Pam Olson, Beth Olson, Kathryn (Paul Lange), Paula Cherrette (Peter) and Amy Cherrette; brothers-in-law, Charlie and Paul Cherrette; several special nieces, nephews and cousins. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Ode & Merle Olson; brother, John K. Olson, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orval and Jane Cherrette; brothers-in-law, Bill and Peter Cherrette.
Friends may call at the Ore Dock on Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 3 to 6 pm for a celebration of Sue's life.
