MARQUETTE, MI – Robert M. Saari, age 85, of Marquette, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026 at Michigan Veteran Homes- DJ Jacobetti in Marquette following a short illness.
Robert was born at home in Askel, MI on March 11, 1941 to Benhart and Laila (Piekkola) Saari. He attended John M. Doelle agricultural school in Tapiola, MI where he graduated in 1959.
After graduation Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a Seabee spending time in Burmeda and Rota, Spain and visiting Gibraltar.
After completing his service, he married the former Barbara J. Beauvillia in Lake Linden, MI on July 13, 1963. Together they had 5 boys.
Robert worked in insurance sales with Metropolitan Life and Prudential. Robert also enjoyed spending time with his family and camping.
Robert was proceeded in death by his parents; sister, Gladys Command; wife, Barbara; sons, Larry, Kevin and Darren.
He is survived by sons, Brad (Doddi) Saari of Marquette and Mike Saari of Appleton, WI; grandson, Benhart and Jadeann Saari; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Lennon; grandson, Cody and granddaughter, Ashton; nephew, Dan Saari of Ottawa, IL; grand-niece, Haleigh Saari; and nieces, Diana Command of Clinton, MI and Doreen (Ron) Burt of Tipton MI.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful, loving and compassionate caregivers at Meyering Bethany- Marquette County Medical Care Facility and Michigan Veteran Homes- DJ Jacobetti. A special than you to Gayle and Dr. Fritz Hoenke and Deacon Dean and his wife, Shirley for spending time with Bob at Jacobetti.
Per Robert’s request, no formal services will be held.
