Nathan Laksonen

ISHPEMING, MI – Nathan Thomas Laksonen, 65, of Ishpeming, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at UPHS - Marquette in the care of his loving family.

Nathan was born January 12, 1961 in Ishpeming to Richard and Evelyn (Koski) Laksonen and was a graduate of Westwood High School's first graduating Class in 1978. Following graduation, he proudly and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps in Iran, Grenada, the Philippines, Japan and Korea. Following his service to his country, Nathan worked several jobs throughout his career, including at the Ropes Gold Mine, UPS, and lastly as a corrections officer at the Cotton Correctional Facility in Jackson.

Nathan enjoyed the outdoors and spending time in the woods, listening to music and reading. He was an avid sports fan of the Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Tigers and Green Bay Packers. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandsons.

Surviving are his loving wife, Juanita (Camilon) Laksonen; his three children: Anna (Jason) Kutchie, Ian (NeTanya Reichel) Laksonen and Melissa (Kyle Heikkila) Laksonen; four grandsons: Carter, Otto and Aiden, and Tristan; his brother: Richard (Lori) Laksonen; his sister: Ruth Perucco; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: David Laksonen; and four sisters: Anna Gray, Marty Merrill, Mary Manning and Judy Johnson.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24th from 10-11 am at Koskey Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 11:00 am with Rev. Bre Kinnunen officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
