Diana (Sandberg) Ziomkowski

MARQUETTE, MI- Diana (Sandberg) Ziomkowski, 74, of Marquette, ended this part of her journey on August 25th, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family and friends.

Diana was a loving wife and an exceptional mother and grandmother. Her family believe her to be one of the most free spirited and patient people to visit this earth. She spent her life as an adventurer, a pursuer of knowledge, a nurturer, and an activist for social justice.

Diana completed a bachelor degree in Archaeology at Grand Valley State University and never stopped being fascinated by history, genealogy, culture, and art, all of which she loved to share.

Diana is survived by her children, Kyra (Robbie) Goodrich and Lukas (Rebecca) Ziomkowski; her grandchildren, Jack, Eileen, Julia, Welly, Keaton, Lane, Theo, Louis, Roscoe, Collette, Ella, Josiah, Kiah and great grandchild, Mateo; and her siblings, Sharon, Robert (Pam), Deborah (Jim), Patricia, and Jeanne (Malcolm).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marilyn and Harold Sandberg, and her devoted husband, Laurence Ziomkowski, whom she married in 1976, always saying it was the best decision she ever made.

The Ziomkowski family will greet relatives and friends on Monday 31 August from 3 to 5 pm at Canale-Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services following a graveside burial service at Park Cemetery at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Diana's memory to Room at the Inn in Marquette, Great Lakes Recovery Centers in Ishpeming, or Samaritas Refugee Services.
