Sandra J. Hause

GWINN, MI – Sandra Jean Hause, 87, of Gwinn, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at her home, with her family by her side and under the care of UP Home Health & Hospice. She lived a full life marked by a deep devotion to her family and her faith.

She was born June 5, 1939, in Baraboo, Wisconsin, the daughter of Whitney and Regina (McIntyre) Fullmer. Sandy was raised in Baraboo and was a 1957 graduate of Baraboo High School.

Sandy married Gerald “Jerry” Hause on July 16, 1960 in Baraboo. Jerry made a career of his time in the US Air Force with Sandy at his side. She embraced being the wife of a military serviceman and made each of Jerry’s stations “home”. Over Jerry’s 23 year military career the couple were stationed at Travis AFB in Fairfield, California, ENT AFB Colorado Springs, CO, Clark AFB in the Phillipines, Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland and finally at KI Sawyer AFB. Sandy was employed with New York Life Insurance Company until the couple began their family when she took on her most important job as mother. She later was employed through civil service as a secretary for the Transportation Commander at KI Sawyer AFB until the base closed in 1995.

She donated her time and energy to things that were important to her. She volunteered with the American Red Cross when living in the Phillipines. She was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church for over 40 years where she served on the Altar Society, the Parish Council and the Finance Council. Sandy also spent 8 years as a member of the School Board for Gwinn Area Community School making numerous trips to Washington D.C. to lobby for the students of the Gwinn School system. Sandy was instrumental in starting all night senior party. In later years, she also volunteered at the Gwinn Library.

Cooking was a passion of Sandy’s and she spent many hours in the kitchen preparing meals not only for her family but for funeral luncheons at church. During her time as a military wife she acquired many recipes from the other wives and eventually wrote a cookbook using those recipes and telling the story of the ladies she received them from. Sandy titled the cookbook, “The Comforts of Home…Wherever that may be”. She gifted a copy of her cookbook to each of her children and grandchildren as well as sold the book locally.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Gerald Hause of Gwinn; children, Bret Hause of Milwaukee, WI, Shawn (Kathy) Hause of Cedar Springs, MI and Erin Hause of Gwinn; grandchildren, Taylor, Joshua, Anna, Jared, Alex, Abby, Eli & Andrew; great-grandchildren, Luka Hause and Jace Cowell; brother, William (Sandy) Fullmer of Birmingham, MI; niece & nephew, Molly (Brett) Robinson of Beverly Hills, MI and Luke Fullmer of Canton, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Next to her children, her grandchildren were the light of her life. They spent many summers going to grandma’s for a week at a time, going to the Children’s Museum, visiting a pottery studio, watching plays down by Lake Superior, among many other outings and time spent together. She took them to church with her and instilled in them her deep Catholic faith.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 10am to 12 Noon at St. Anthony Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon with Rev. Al Mott and Rev. Sebastian Oppong officiating. A luncheon will follow the Mass in the church hall. Interment will take place at a later date in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Baraboo, WI.

For those wishing to honor her memory, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Anthony Altar Society.
