Robert O. Cobb

Bob was born on September 12, 1938 in Van Meer to Leonard and Ethel (Syers) Cobb. He lived his entire life on the property where he was born. Bob went to school in Van Meer and worked in the woods for local logging operations. When the Johns family moved to Oregon and took his sweetheart, Martha Johns, with them, Bob drove to Oregon when she turned eighteen and they were married on October 31, 1960. They returned to Van Meer and raised their five children together.

Bob went to work at C.C.I. in 1962 and retired from Timber Products in 2000. After retirement, he worked for Manpower in the guard shack for years. Bob enjoyed bowling and horseshoe leagues, and he loved being in the woods. He was a hardworking man who loved being around his family.

Bob is survived by his wife of over sixty-five years ­ Martha Cobb of Van Meer; children ­ Robert (Charity Hoy) Cobb of Van Meer, John (Barbara) Cobb of Iron River, Caryn (Mark) Graves of Star Siding, Sue (Andy Hall) Cobb of Ishpeming, and William (Lori) Cobb of Munising; grandchildren ­ Rob (Kim), Carol (Ron), Andrew, Linsey Rae, Samantha May, Shawna Marie, Henry Raeburn, Megan Sue, Emily Jo, Seth Mark, Brittany, Brian, Alexis, Cameron, Clifford, and Cassie Ann; numerous great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, and many great neighbors and friends like Pete and Kathy Syers and the Howard Boys.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents ­ Leonard and Ethel Cobb; best friend ­ Jim Tiernan; and siblings ­ Beatrice, Emily, “Toots”, Lola, George, Leonard, Ty, Andy, Ephriam “Frog”, and Richard.
