LECANTO, FL- Mary Koskela, dear mother, grandmother and wife, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at the home she shared with her devoted husband and best friend, Glenn.
A 1973 graduate of Marquette Senior HS, she would go on to receive her CNA certification from NMU. Later, she would ply her trade for many years in the outpatient surgery department of Marquette General Hospital.
Mary had many interests in life, including arts and crafts, pool and golf. She was also fond of doting on her plants and dogs. In the summer of 2020, her and Glenn would move down to Lecanto, FL to enjoy their retirement.
Mary is survived by her husband, Glenn, her two sons, Jesse Berglund of Marquette and Jake Berglund of Ontario, NY, two stepdaughters, Dana Koskela of Duluth, MN, and Jennifer Koskela of Tavares, FL, and four grandchildren, Michael Buchl of Duluth, Addison Hughes of Orlando, FL and Isabelle and Tristan Murray of Tavares, and her brother, Scott Stobbelaar (Lynn) of Marquette. As well as many friends and acquaintances over the years at places near and far, including the Third Base Bar and Legion Post #44 in Marquette, MI and Norton's Riverside Bar & Grill in Crystal River, FL.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Hazel Stobbelaar of Marquette, MI and her brother, Gordon (Ann) Stobbelaar. As well as her furry friends over the years: Beauregard, BJ, Rufus and Diffy.
If you knew Mary, there's a good chance you knew where you stood with her. But know this: she loved you all.
Plans for a celebration of life are currently in the works. Details will be forthcoming as they develop. In the meantime, please consider donating to a charity that works with animals, on her behalf. She would love that!
