GWINN, MI – Lloyd C. O’Neill, Jr., 93, of Gwinn, passed away Monday, July 20, 2026 at his home.
He was born October 12, 1932, in Marquette, a son of Lloyd C. O'Neill, Sr. and Florence (Everson) O’Neill, and was raised in Marquette.
Lloyd worked in the local iron mines as a younger man before relocating to the Washington DC/Virginia area where he worked as a project manager for a civil engineering firm. Following his retirement, Lloyd went back to work for Home Depot for several years.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge, and his interests included computers, riding motorcycles, camping, fishing, woodworking, and construction.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Maria O’Neill of Gwinn; daughter, Diane Lawhorn of Gwinn; 4 grandchildren: Jennifer Dodson of Virginia, Lorraine Brower of Gwinn, Steven Lawhorn of Virginia, and Tara Lawhorn of Maryland; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Thielbar of Wisconsin; and former spouse, Dorothy O’Neill of Gwinn. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gene O’Neill, Connie Green, and Donna Weymouth.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 2-4 pm at the Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A memorial service will be held at 4 pm with Rev. Sebastian Oppong officiating. Interment will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery in Marquette.
