Jane Ann Bennett

GWINN, MI – Jane Ann Bennett, age 76, passed away July 3, 2026 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.

Jane was born in East Liverpool, Ohio, December 6, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Paul Allen Betteridge and June Louise Budd Ferguson. Jane attended East Liverpool city schools. After graduation she attended A&H Cosmetology School and obtained her cosmetology license. After a short period Jane became a licensed instructor. During her high school years Jane was active in choir both in school and Trinity United Presbyterian Church. Jane also worked at the former Reese Jewelers.

On June 16, 1974 Jane was united in marriage to Timothy Mark Bennett at Westminister Presbyterian Church, Boardman, Ohio. Jane soon adapted to being a “military wife” as they changed assignments, adjusted to Tim’s temporary duty assignments, and she was always ready and eager to see what was coming next.

When the family relocated to Gwinn Jane soon became a member of the Gwinn United Methodist Church where she was active in the choir and United Methodist Women (UMW). She served in several offices in the local unit. Jane also served for over 19 years on the Marquette District of UMW; lastly holding the office of President. For several years Jane worked for the Mining Journal as District Manager for Gwinn and K I Sawyer.

Jane is survived by her husband; Tim, daughter, Rebekah June (Steve) Swain; half-brother, James R. (Donna) Ferguson; nephew, Mark Ferguson; and niece, Amy (Brian) Cain.

Besides her parents Jane was predeceased by her infant sister Barbara and nephew, Kent A. Ferguson.

Tim & Rebekah wish to extend a thank you to Dr. Kroll. Also, a big heartfelt note of gratitude to the staff at Marquette County Medical Care Facility for their loving care for the past three years, especially the girls on 300. God bless all of you richly.

Visitation will be Thursday July 9, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Gwinn United Methodist Church. Services will be conducted at 11:00 with Pastor Billie Kay Ladwig officiating. Private interment will take place in the Forsyth Township Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Steve Finley of the Gwinn Community Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be directed to the Marquette County Medical Care Facility activity fund, 200 Saginaw St., Ishpeming, MI 49849 or the Gwinn United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 354, Gwinn, MI 49841.
