Helen (Thompson) Marsh

Helen was born April 15, 1926 in Negaunee to Samuel and Mary (Vincent) Thompson and was a graduate of Negaunee High School, Class of 1943. Following graduation, she married the late Louis Marsh, and together they raised their three girls on Pontiac Lake in White Lake, Michigan. A devoted homemaker, Helen took great pride in taking care of the household, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Marsh was a devout member of St. Perpetual Catholic Church in Waterford. She was a selfless volunteer for the Waterford Senior Citizens Center and was a member of the Golden Ages. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards and games, BINGO, bowling and an occasional trip to the casino.

Surviving are her children; Beverly Luedecking of Allegan, Michele Neilson of Waterford, and Maureen (Jeff) Boucher of Neenah; nine grandchildren: Sandiee (Brandon) Luedecking-Lyons, Larry Luedecking, Jerri (Tom) Raab, James (Jennifer) Neilson, Jonathan Neilson, Jordan Neilson, Jarrett (Angela) Neilson, Ryan Boucher and Brittany (Josh) Acker; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis; one grandson, James Luedecking; one great-grandson, Colin Luedecking; three sisters: Elizabeth Bernice Alexander, Mary Holman, and Dorothy Sokol; and one brother: Robert ‘Bob’ Thompson.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Friday, July 17th at St. Paul Catholic Church in Negaunee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. Luncheon will follow in the St. Paul Gymnasium. Helen’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
