Helen Joyce Fields
MARQUETTE, MI – Helen Joyce Fields, 94, formerly a longtime resident of Swartz Creek, Michigan, peacefully ascended into Heaven on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in the loving care of Trillium House, UP Home Health Hospice and her family.
She was born November 1, 1931, in Flint, Michigan. She was a 1950 graduate of Flint Northern High School and attended Flint Community College.
Helen was employed for more than 31 years as an executive secretary at General Motors Corporation. In this role, she achieved life long learning of ever-changing technology.
She was a member of the Swartz Creek American Legion Auxiliary 294 and the Swartz Creek VFW Auxiliary 3720. Helen held the position of president and treasurer in her tenure with the American Legion. She loved to have fun and was a member of the Legion’s “Hillbilly Clan.”
Helen was a creative, artistic person whose abilities were limitless. She was a seamstress, made porcelain dolls, refinished furniture, enjoyed interior design, and gardening. One of her greatest accomplishments was building her dream home with her beloved husband, Guy.
Helen was inquisitive, pursued knowledge and solutions. Her zest and approach to life manifests in her children and grandchildren’s hobbies and career choices, which brought her great joy.
Helen was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, Brenda Hershey of Marquette, David Hertz of Flint, and James Fields of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Emily (Jef) Goodger, Brian (Staci) Fields, Derek Striler of Arizona, Chelsea (Brady) Striler-Pierzchalski of Wisconsin and great-grandchildren, Audrey and Ethan. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Guy Fields.
Helen’s high school yearbook stated that she “would always find a way”…..and she did.

An announcement regarding services will be forthcoming in conjunction with Sharp Funeral Home , Great Lakes National Cemetery, and the American Legion Auxiliary of Swartz Creek.
Interment will be made at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly MI.
