ISHPEMING, MI – George (Ted) Baird was born September 22, 1942. We have all been so fortunately blessed with his presence for a good, long while. He has peacefully departed from our company on Friday, July 17 of this year.
In his teenage days, he was a devoted son, a gifted short order cook, and enjoyed stream fishing in the Marquette area with friends. The ambition he displayed very early on in his life lent to the insight and motivation that allowed him to soon found his own construction company, which he successfully operated for over 40 years.
He married Donna Baird, and enjoyed a happy marriage with her for 52 years. George was dedicated to his family and brothers and sisters in faith, and gave generously to his family, friends and neighbors. In the words of his brother, Mike Baird, "he was a good brother and a good Christian and I miss him. I was very thankful in how well he looked after mom."
The family is looking forward to greeting relatives and friends to celebrate George at Canale-Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 526 North Third Street, Marquette, Michigan, 49855, on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Viewing is from 10:00-11:30 a.m., with service thereafter. Interment will follow at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
