George Andrew Dezso

DOTHA, AL – Andy passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2026.

Oldest son of George and Shirley Dezso, he was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 10, 1956 and moved with his family to Marquette in 1968. He was a 1974 graduate of Marquette Senior High School and had been on the wrestling and football teams.

He joined the United States Army and graduated from Warrant Officer School at Fort Rucker, Alabama in 1983. He was trained as a helicopter pilot, completing missions in Germany, Alaska, Colorado, Alabama and Honduras. He was honorably discharged after serving his country for 15 years.

He owned and operated Dothan Air Charter, providing private jet services for business owners throughout the Southeast.

Andy was an avid golfer, enthusiastic motorcyclist and HUGE Michigan and Minnesota Viking football fan. Go BLUE!

Andy was predeceased by his father and namesake, George, in October 2019.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley, of Spring Hill, FL; his sister, Sandy (Mark) Lessard of Spring Hill, FL; brother Gary (Kim) Dezso of Festus, MO; and brother Gregory (Barbara) Dezso of Leominster, MA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom he adored and loved spending time with on skiing vacations in Colorado, golf/gulf vacations in Florida and at the family camp on the Dead River Basin.

Burial will be in a military cemetery in Alabama.
