Beverly J. Tibbens

APPLETON, WI – Beverly J. Tibbens, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on October 8, 1937, in Howard, Pennsylvania, Beverly was the daughter of Charles Harter Sr. and Rebecca Winslow Harter. She grew up in Pennsylvania and carried with her a strong work ethic, resilience, and deep devotion to family throughout her life.

Beverly shared a lifelong love with her husband, Carl Tibbens Sr. Together they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 22, 2006, in Howard, Pennsylvania. As a proud military wife, Beverly faithfully followed Carl throughout his 23 years of service, taking their family to South Carolina, Kansas, and Japan before eventually settling in Marquette, Michigan. Marquette became their cherished home for over 45 years.

Beverly worked for more than 20 years at Cedar Motor Inn in Marquette, where she served as both a housekeeper and supervisor. She took great pride in her work.

After retirement, Beverly and Carl enjoyed spending their winters in Zephyrhills, Florida. Following Carl’s passing in 2018, Beverly continued snow birding between Marquette and Florida until 2023, when she relocated to Appleton, Wisconsin, to be closer to family. She spent the last three years of her life at Appleton Retirement Community, where she enjoyed the friendships she made and embraced the many activities offered by the community.

Beverly loved playing cards, trying her luck at the casino, attending penny bingo, reading, watching CNN, making crafts, and participating in community events. Known for her quick wit, strong opinions, and independent spirit, Beverly enjoyed staying active and involved wherever she lived.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Tibbens Sr.; her daughter, Kathy LaFave; her son, Carl Tibbens Jr.; her parents, Charles and Rebecca Harter; her sister, Gertrude Gettig; and her brother, George Harter.

Beverly is survived by one brother, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and numerous extended family members and close friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Appleton Retirement Community and Moments Hospice for the compassionate care, kindness, and dignity they provided to Beverly during her final years and days.

In keeping with Beverly’s wishes, the family will honor her life privately and celebrate her memory in their own special way.
