Nancy Lou Hogan

MARQUETTE, MI – Nancy Lou Hogan, age 78, of Marquette, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Norlite Nursing Center, surrounded by the loving care of her family.

Born on October 3, 1947 in Marquette, Michigan, the daughter of Alfred and Dorothy (Gabriel) Mercure, Nancy was raised in Marquette and graduated from Bishop Baraga High School with the Class of 1965. On July 23, 1977, she married the love of her life, William C. Hogan Jr., beginning a devoted marriage built on love, faith, and unwavering commitment.

Nancy began her career as a bookkeeper at Harvey Oil Company, where she dedicated 42 years of faithful service before retiring in 2001.

Nancy was a gifted homemaker whose creativity touched every aspect of her life. She loved crafting, gardening, baking, decorating, and collecting ceramics. Nancy’s home had three Christmas trees that were beautifully decorated not only for Christmas but for every holiday, including the Fourth of July, with handmade ornaments she lovingly created herself. Nothing was ever store-bought if Nancy could make it herself. From homemade Christmas candies to beautifully decorated treats and handcrafted decorations, her talents brought warmth and joy to family and friends.

A lifelong fan of Elvis Presley, Nancy also found great fulfillment in serving others. She was deeply involved in her church, volunteering whenever needed and quietly helping those less fortunate without ever seeking recognition. She was known for her kindness, compassion, generosity, and genuine concern for others.

Above all else, Nancy cherished her family. She was loving, caring, sensitive, and happy-go-lucky, with a friendly smile that made everyone feel welcome. She devoted herself to caring for her beloved husband, Bill, and found her greatest happiness in making their house a warm, beautiful home filled with love and cherished traditions.

Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, William C. Hogan Jr.; her brothers, Robert (Pattie) Mercure and David Mercure; her sister, Marie (John) Gregurash; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents.
