Jeanne Nylander

NEGAUNEE, MI – Jeanne Kay Nylander, 90, longtime Negaunee resident, passed away Friday evening, June 19, 2026 at Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the care of her loving family.

Jeanne was born January 12, 1936 in Ishpeming to Charles and Agnes (Clifton) Fernea and graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1954. She was united in marriage to the late Lawrence James Nylander and together they raised their family in Negaunee.

Jeanne loved helping others, and was employed for many years as a special education teacher for Marquette Public Schools. She also helped her husband operate their family business, Nylander Auto Parts. Family was most important to Jeanne; she loved family gatherings, spending time with her grandchildren, and enjoying a pink squirrel while visiting in her garage. She also enjoyed baking, crocheting and her daily word search.

Surviving are her grandchildren: Brandon (Jennifer) Nylander and their children: Noah (Courtney) Nylander (Carson and Evan), Madison and Emersyn; Ashley (Hannah) Nylander and their daughter, Paelynn; Cindy Nylander and her children, Shawn and Justin; Tina Nylander and her children: Jayden, Evan and Logan; daughter-in-law, Lucinda Nylander; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2004; two sons: Lawrence James Nylander, Jr. and Jeffrey Charles Nylander; her brother, Cliff Fernea; and her sister, Kathryn ‘Cassie’ Maki.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 10-12 Noon on Tuesday, June 30th at Koskey Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
