Donald Henry Duquette

MARQUETTE, MI – Donald Henry Duquette, age 94, of Marquette, passed away on June 20, 2026 at his home.

Born in Marquette, Michigan, on February 19, 1932, Donald was the son of Henry and Ann (Forsburg) Duquette. He was raised in Marquette and graduated from John D. Pierce High School.

Following graduation, Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he began his working career with Cliffs-Dow Chemical Company, where he worked for several years before joining Cleveland-Cliffs as a loader operator. Known for his strong work ethic and dedication, Donald remained with the company until his retirement at age 62.

In September of 1957, Donald married the love of his life, Ruth Irwin. Together they shared nearly seven decades of marriage and raised their family in Marquette, building a home filled with love, hard work, and lasting memories.

Donald was an avid fisherman and hunter who found great joy in the outdoors. He enjoyed reading western novels, working puzzles, and cheering on the Detroit Red Wings. Known for his curmudgeonly nature at times, those who knew him best understood that beneath his gruff exterior was a devoted family man who would do anything for those he loved. He was a good man, a hard worker, and someone family could always depend upon.

Donald is survived by his daughter, Karla Duquette; his son, Michael Duquette; his sister, Pat Setter; his brothers, Bernard Duquette, Jerry Duquette, and Paul Duquette; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ann Duquette; his wife of 69 years, Ruth Duquette; his son, Donald Duquette Jr.; and his brother, Clarence Duquette.

Honoring Donald’s wishes, no public services will be held.
