Betty Mae Carilli

NEGAUNEE TWP, MI – Betty Mae Carilli, 86, of Negaunee Township, entered eternal life Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Florence Health Services in Florence, Wisconsin.

Betty was born May 6, 1940 in Mohawk, Michigan to Paul and Laura (Strand) Jarvela. She was the middle girl of seven sisters. She grew up in Ishpeming, graduating from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1958. Following graduation, Betty married the late Paul Carilli on August 26, 1961, and together they raised their family in Negaunee. She was employed for many years as secretary for Marquette Alger Intermediate School District.

Faith and family were most important to Betty, and she was a devout member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee. Betty enjoyed cooking for her family as well as traveling to see her adult daughter. She was also very fond of her pets and her children’s pets. Not that long ago, Betty was also a wonderful line dancer.

Surviving are her son, Daniel (Linda) Carilli of Negaunee; her daughter, Debra (Ron) Polomoscanik of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandchildren: Morgan Carilli, and Kristi (Juan) Hernandez; four great-grandchildren: Violet, Joseph, Oliver and Johnny; five sisters: Audrey (Phil) Nardi of Marquette, Donna Lundin of California, Paulette (Colin) Jacobetti of Iron Mountain, Sandy (Bruce) Lindberg of Marquette and Janice (Tom) LaFreniere of California; brother-in-law, Dan Carilli of Gwinn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul in 2019; one sister, Judy (Jerry) Nease; and her brother-in-law, Francis Lundin.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM-10:00 AM on Monday, June 22nd at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee with a memorial service beginning at 10:00 am with Rev. Bre Kinnunen officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
