Stephen F. Adamini
MARQUETTE, MI – Stephen Frank Adamini, 81, former UP State Representative and longtime dedicated public servant for the State of Michigan, entered eternal life Wednesday morning, April 29, 2026 at UP Health System in Marquette in the care of his loving family.
Steve was born March 10, 1945 in Marquette to Frank and Lois (Perala) Adamini and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1963. He then attended the University of Michigan, earning his B.A. in Political Science followed by his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School.
Mr. Adamini began practicing law in Marquette County in 1970, becoming a senior partner at Kendricks, Bordeau, Adamini, Chilman and Greenlee, P.C. where he dedicated much of his work to veterans and the ‘underdog.’ He served as the City of Marquette and Marquette County Attorney, on the Executive Committee for the Gwinn Area Chamber of Commerce, as a Chairperson for the Marquette County Airport Board; was a member of the Marquette County Re-Apportionment Commission and Michigan Transportation Commission, served as the Democratic Party Chair for Marquette County and on the Marquette County Board of Commissioners, and was elected in 2000 to the Michigan House of Representatives 109th District, among many other civic duties. He was also a professor in the paralegal program at Northern Michigan University and served on the NMU Board of Trustees.
Steve belonged to the Negaunee Elks, The Paisano Club and was active with AA of Marquette County. He was a passionate U of M and NMU fan, enjoyed a good political discussion and spending time at the ‘Loophole Lodge’ hunting camp. Most of all, he loved spending time, cooking Italian meals and entertaining his beloved family, friends and colleagues.
Surviving are his son, Stephen F. Adamini, Jr. of Marquette Township; grandchildren: Alex, Markie and Ryan Karki, Chessa, Tristin, Jarratt and Mahayla Adamini, and Anna Zumpf; great-grandchildren: Maybel, Grayson, Waylon, Rory, Esmae and Hailey; brother, Tom (Janice) Adamini of Waconia, MN; sister-in-law, Judy Adamini; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda (Fraley) Adamini in 2012, whom he married in 1971 in Wayne, MI; his daughter, Corrine Fraley Adamini in 2011; and his brother, Peter Adamini in 2007.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM 1:45 PM on Friday, May 8th in The Grand Ballroom at the Northern Center at Northern Michigan University. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Bre Kinnunen, Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee, officiating. Interment will take place in Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial considerations may be directed in Steve’s memory to the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
