Joan Darlene Blondeau
MARQUETTE, MI – Joan D. Blondeau, 90, of Marquette, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, at UP Health System – Marquette.
Joan was born on June 13, 1935, in Marquette, Michigan, to Walter and Margaret (Smith) Fassbender. She was a graduate of Bishop Baraga High School.
In June of 1952, Joan married James Blondeau in Marquette.
Joan enjoyed flowers and birds and in her younger years, loved square dancing, knitting, and crocheting.
She sang with the Sunshine Girls, was a member of the Red Hat Ladies, and was also a faithful member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church.
Joan was always a very happy and optimistic person and always had a smile on her face. It didn’t matter what she was going through, she radiated a positive light.
Joan is survived by her children, Jeanne (Glenn Pederson) Blondeau, Jim Blondeau, and Janice Hillier; grandchildren, Michael (Jessica Fisher) Pederson, Jessica Pederson, Daniel (Amanda) Blondeau, Melissa (Dan) Wihowski, Callan (Tom) Marshall, Cassandra (Joe) Haapapuro, Benjamen (Barb) Hillier, and Andrew (Mary) Hillier; great-grandchildren, Kendra, Blake, Zoey, Chloe, Jacob, Gavin, Sutton, Cohen, Bowie, and Charlotte; her brother, Walter (Louise) Fassbender; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Margaret Fassbender; her son, Jeff Blondeau; grandsons, Jeremy Hillier and Joe Cass; son-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Hillier; and brother, Danny Fassbender.
Family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at St. Louis the King Catholic Church beginning at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tim Ekaitis officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the church hall. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
