Helen Lou “Pets” Todd
MARQUETTE, MI – Helen Lou “Pets” Todd, age 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Trillium House in Marquette. She lived a full and beautiful life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, family, and cherished memories.
Born December 1, 1928, in Escanaba, Michigan, Helen was the daughter of Oscar and Marcella Loeffler. She was raised in Escanaba and graduated from Holy Name High School with the Class of 1946. Following high school, she attended Escanaba Business College, where she met the love of her life, Robert Todd. The couple was united in marriage on May 9, 1948, in Escanaba.
Together they began their married life in Sault Ste. Marie, where Bob was employed by the State of Michigan. In 1949, they relocated to Marquette when Bob accepted employment with the Marquette Branch Prison. Their home soon became filled with love and activity as their family grew to seven children. Pets embraced her roles of wife, loving mother, and homemaker, always placing her family at the center of her life.
Despite the busy demands of raising a large family, Pets always found time for the simple joys she loved most — a spirited card game, visits with family and friends, and sharing laughter around the kitchen table. For many years, her daily routine included enjoying a glass of her favorite Red Rose wine precisely at 3:00 p.m. Fittingly, her passing on May 25 coincided with National Wine Day.
Following Bob’s passing in 1993, Pets worked for several years in retail sales, so she’d have “something to do.”
A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Pets will be deeply missed by her children, Cathy (Dave) Nobert, Tinky Beauchamp, Ann Oaks, Toni (Rob) Robinson, and Jim Todd; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Todd; daughters, Mary Todd and Jane Todd; sons-in-law, Glenn Beauchamp and Tom Oaks; daughter-in-law, Nancy Rolig Todd; grandson, John David Beauchamp; siblings and their spouses, Mary (Jim) McNicoll, Catherine (Richard) Lebaron, John “Jack” Loeffler, and William Loeffler; and her best friend, Janice Pesola.
The family has chosen to honor Pets’ memory with a private family celebration.
