Gregory Babcock
SUOMI LOCATION, MI – Gregory Scott Babcock, 66, of Suomi Location, passed away on May 19th, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family after a courageous battle with COPD.
Greg was born on April 25th, 1960, in Milwaukee, WI, to Charles and Gloria (Saari) Babcock. When he was a child, his parents and siblings relocated to Negaunee Township, where they sustained and grew their family. After completing his General Education Diploma, Greg enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve. He completed basic and advanced training in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Greg was later transferred to Fort Hood, Texas, where he took position as Cannon Crewman of the 1st Cavalry Division 1/82nd Field Artillery Battalion. Greg was a decorated multi-weapon Expert Rifleman. He also proudly served overseas in Germany.
Greg enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved indulging himself in hunting and fishing. Regularly, Greg and Teri loved spending time out at Charlie Lakes camp. Greg was a passionate sports fanatic, immersing himself as a Minnesota Viking, Detroit Red Winger, and NASCAR enthusiast. He also loved spending quality time with the love of his life, Teri. Finally joining hands in 2012, they spent 30 years devoted to each other. Over the years, his love of family and grandchildren grew fervently as new additions were made.
Gregory is survived by his wife, Teri Babcock of Suomi; father, Charles Babcock of Harvey; brother, Dennis Babcock of Ishpeming; sister, Peggy Seaver of Harvey; son, Steven (Jaceley) Babcock of Marquette; daughter, April (Ross) Connors of Marquette; daughter, Amanda (Martin) Deloria of Marquette; stepdaughter, Tara Chamblee (Joseph Williams) of Gwinn; stepson, Christopher Chamblee (Amanda Mannisto) of Gwinn; grandchildren, Theodore Babcock, Bishop Connors, Cassidy Deloria, Lucas Deloria, Dominic Williams, and Saylor Chamblee; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Babcock; mother-in-law, Karen McElroy; brother, Gary Babcock; aunt, Joyce Sleeter.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Koskey Funeral Home, beginning at 11 a.m with the United States Army Honor Guard Team conducting military honors prior to memorial services beginning at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Jim Larsen officiating. A potluck luncheon will take place at Negaunee Township Hall following the service.
