Gary Lee Koski

NAPLES, FL – It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Gary Lee Koski, 70, who passed away on May 13, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. True to form, he stayed with us long enough to see his final social security check deposited.

Born on October 9, 1955, in Ishpeming, MI, to Paul L. and Perina Koski, Gary was raised in Negaunee and graduated from Negaunee High School in 1973. He earned a degree in Business and Marketing from Northern Michigan University in 1978. Gary lived life exactly the way he wanted: fast, stubborn, hardworking, and always with a story to tell.

Gary was the beloved husband of Susan, his partner of more than 40 years, and a proud father to Katie Koski and Kara (John) Timmerberg. Nothing brought him more joy than being “Papa” to to his grandchildren: Logan, Murphy, Lainey, and Nash. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul Michael Koski.

After a successful career in pharmaceutical sales, Gary and Susan moved from Granger, IN, to Naples, FL. Life in Florida suited Gary perfectly; he enjoyed the beautiful weather, daily pool time, nights at the community pub, and the company of many new friends who became like family. Known in the community of Ole’ as the “Beard of Knowledge,” he served on the Architectural Committee and provided home-watch services for his neighbors.

Gary had a lifelong passion for Harleys, Corvettes, home improvement projects, fine bourbon, and hockey. A true handyman who believed anything could be fixed, he earned the nickname “Tinkerbell.” He was always the first to offer help, advice, an opinion, or a story.

More than anything, Gary modeled unconditional love and loyalty through his acts of service. Even while facing cancer, he remained determined to care for those around him with incredible strength and grit. He often joked, “I’m the healthiest sick person you will ever meet,” never complaining and always maintaining that he was more fortunate than others.

Gary lived life on his own terms. We find comfort knowing his voice, humor, and love will stay with us always. And if the thermostat mysteriously gets turned up to 78°, we’ll know exactly who is responsible.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
