Amy Sue Tasson
NEENAH, WI – Amy Sue Tasson, age 59, passed away Friday, May 15, 2026 in Neenah, WI. She was born October 19, 1966, in Ishpeming, MI to Vincent James and Fay Sondra (Swahn) Tasson. Amy was a graduate of Ishpeming High School and Suomi College with a degree in Business Administration. After a stop in Los Angeles, California, Amy moved to Chicago, Illinois where she owned and operated Apple Appraisal Company. After selling her business, she moved to Neenah and was a tenured bingo associate for the Oneida Nation.
In her younger years she was a ski jumper, skier, and a decorated swimmer. Amy was very witty! She could talk (and debate) for hours on topics she was passionate about, including the Packers, Brewers, Wolverines, and the state of the world. She loved to entertain the room with conversation and sharing hilarious stories from the past with amazing recall of fine details. Amy could make friends with anyone she came in contact with. If you couldn’t see Amy, you could probably hear her talking with a stranger she just met. Amy’s skill to make conversation and turn it into laughter from the whole room was remarkable. Anyone who was lucky enough to know Amy, knew she was blessed with a one-of-a-kind personality.
The oldest daughter in a family of seven children, she recounts being like a second mom to the younger ones. (The story is she threatened to run away if another sibling was born!!) These formative years resulted in a sister who would give the shirt off her back for any of them. This translated into everyday life, as she would always think of others before herself. Amy truly had a heart of gold!
Her daughter, Sondra, was the light of her life! The love she had for her was so strong and deep that there wasn’t a conversation you had with Amy without Sondra’s name being brought up. Amy could not contain the pride she had for her since the day she was born and every accomplishment Sondra has had since then. Sondra’s wedding day may have been the happiest day of her life or a tie with the day she was born! She was overjoyed to welcome Jackson into the family and loved him like her own son.
Amy was at a really great point in life with so many exciting things on the horizon, including a move closer to her daughter and son-in-law, a dream job in Milwaukee, and amazing health goals being achieved. She will be missed beyond measure!
Amy is survived by her loving daughter, Sondra (Jackson) Strelow; siblings: Steve (Sheri), Kevin, Craig (Patty), Jana (Steve) Niemi, Dara (Gene) Flink, and Jason (Lacey Crabb) Tasson; Sondra’s brother and sister: Cory (June) Vickstrom and Kristy (Denis) Danielson; her best friend and Sondra’s father, Steve Vickstrom; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held this summer in Ishpeming, MI.
