Trenton David Massey
In Loving Memory of Trenton Massey—who has yet to be physically returned to us, but will forever remain in our hearts—
MARQUETTE, MI – Trenton David Massey, age 21, Born May 3rd, 2004, Disappeared from Lower Harbor Marquette, and from the lives of those who loved him, on February 22nd, 2026.
Trenton was the definition of a Northern Michigan University Student. He came to Marquette and fell in love with the town, the students, the people, and the adventures. He made so many memories with friends and family hiking Dead River Falls, Morgan Falls, Laughing White Fish Falls, Sugarloaf Mountain, Hogsback Mountain, and many more. He was an avid jumper of the Blackrocks and always took his visitors for a jump to make them an official Yooper! Trenton took countless adventures to Little Presque, Rum Runners, Wetmore Landing, Lake of the Clouds, Eben Ice Caves, camping, sailing Lake Superior, watching the rally car races, the UP200 Dog Sled Races, Mount Marquette, Marquette Mountain, Top of the World, and viewing the Northern Lights. Trenton drove around with his snowmobile and snowboard in the back of his truck, just so after class he could go play in the snow. Trenton also loved playing disc golf with his buddies, and partook in so many more adventures that he loved to share with those he loved. Trenton was always ready to make the most out of life. And boy did he love a good party. Whether it was at the top of a mountain, at an abandoned warehouse, out on a two track, or right at the house- he loved music and entertaining and being the cool guy making other people happy. He was a tried and true Wildcat living his BEST LIFE!
Trenton made so many life long friends during his time at Northern Michigan University, as well as in his Construction Management Program at the Jacobetti, his Esports Rocket League Team, and his workplace of Texas Roadhouse. Those friendships were displayed in abundance with all of the stories that everyone has had to share during this unfathomable time of the loss of Trenton. Trenton wasn’t just a friend or a team mate or a coworker. He was family.
Back in his hometown of being a Corunna Cavalier – The love for Trenton and his Family, even years after graduation, still stands so firm with their love and support, and with their stories and tears. He was a smiling face and a warm welcome and a big hug to everyone that crossed his path. He cherished the many friendships that he had during his school age years, and those that continued to flourish despite everyone’s different life paths. Trenton grew up as a multi sport athlete, with a passion for football- not just for the sport, but for the brotherhood as well. He played roller hockey, baseball, basketball, a couple weeks of tennis, threw discus and shot, and loved showing pigs. He loved volunteering with the youth football program and through 4H. He was great with kids- he would have been an amazing Dad. He was a social butterfly who loved and gave unconditionally, and was so loved back.
Trenton loved his Family more than anything. He loved family trips and adventures, and making memories. Trenton was a true Northerner at heart and loved summers on the lake extreme tubing, winters snowmobiling, and every moment in-between with his family up north. He loved the holidays, and went along with all of the themes and picture taking and his Mom’s “itinerary” . Trenton loved traditions- carrying them on and sharing them- because they meant everything to him. He was the proudest dance brother to his sister; he was always there with flowers in hand, beaming with pride when she stepped off the stage. He was so good with little kids, and when life threw him a step-dad and two young step siblings, he took them under his wing and enjoyed spending time with them on his trips home. He was the best cousin- he would drop everything to help out with them or do some crazy adventure with them. He was a nephew who was very close with his aunts and uncles, and that bond grew over the years as he became a young man. He was a grandson who adored time Up North making special memories with his grandparents. He was a best friend to so many people in his life- family or not- he took the time to smile and listen and care. But most of all- Trenton was a Son. To his Mom, he was her world, her everything, her best friend, her rock, her heart. To his Dad, he was growing up and becoming the young man he’d always hoped he’d be, and the relationship he’d hoped to have, with the Son who looked up to him.
Trenton is survived by his mother Sarah Brock (Brian), his father Greg Massey (Ericka Bujard), his sister Emerson Massey, his step-siblings Everette and Brenna Brock.
