Michael Scott DeLongchamp-Perez

MARQUETTE, MI – Michael Scott DeLongchamp-Perez passed away on Saturday, 4/10/2026, from complications related to a fall outside his home.

He is survived by his loving husband of 31 years, Art Perez; his children, Zachary DeLonchamp and Sarah (Ryan) Mundy; and his grandchildren, Kylie and Tyler DeLongchamp. He is also survived by his brother, Dean (Sylvia) DeLonchamp; his sisters, Bobbi (Clark) Sullivan and Debbie (Gunnar) Korpinen; and his sister-in-law, Alicia (David) Martinez. He will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Lawrence DeLongchamp.

Scott maintained lifelong friendships that meant a great deal to him, including Pat Torreano, Pat Woods, Susan Deloria, Becky Mix, Jeff and Julie Jerman-Melka, Marc Etter, and Stephie Isbel.

Scott was born on March 24, 1951, and was raised in Negaunee. He graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1974 and continued his education at Illinois State University before returning to Northern Michigan University for graduate studies. While at NMU, he served as a graduate assistant, teaching Speech Communication to undergraduate students.

He began his professional career in Marquette with Michigan Bell Telephone, where he worked for 20 years. He later joined the American Cancer Society as Vice President of Divisional Services, serving the northern Lower Peninsula and Upper Peninsula of Michigan. After five years, he became Director of the Downtown Marquette Association.

Scott later moved to Lansing, where he rejoined Michigan Bell as a Senior Director, overseeing 300 employees. Ten years later, he relocated to Indianapolis, where he worked in several roles until his health declined. In 2005, he retired to spend time with family and at home with Art. He passed away at 75.
