Donna Marie (Lauzon) Sullivan
MARQUETTE, MI – Donna Marie Sullivan, age 91, of Marquette, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, at Trillium House, in the loving care of her family.
Born April 15, 1934, in Ironwood, Michigan, Donna was the daughter of Joseph and Zella (Yankee) Lauzon. She was raised in Ironwood and was the middle child of seven siblings. Donna graduated from St. Ambrose Catholic High School in 1953. While in high school, she worked at the Ironwood Theater, where she met the love of her life, Lawrence “Larry” Sullivan. Following graduation, she worked at J.C. Penney and continued working evenings at the theater until her marriage.
On September 17, 1955, Donna was united in marriage to Lawrence Sullivan at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood. The couple made their home in Marquette, where they raised their family. Donna devoted 57 years of her life as a dedicated homemaker, caring for her family with love and devotion. Larry preceded her in death on August 10, 2012.
Donna had many interests and was deeply devoted to her faith. She enjoyed traveling, attending her granddaughter’s concerts, cooking, baking, and reading. She was a longtime member of St. Peter Cathedral, the Ladies of the Altar Society, the Queen of Peace Rosary Group, and the prayer line network. For 39 years, Donna was affectionately known as the “jewelry lady,” collecting donated jewelry, cleaning it, and organizing sales at the annual church bazaar to benefit the Altar Society. She cherished time spent with her family and friends and will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and loving woman.
Donna is survived by her children, Bob Sullivan of Marquette and Cathy (Patrick) O’Donnell of Marquette; her grandchildren, Daniel and Colleen O’Donnell; her siblings, Sybil (Joseph) Giorgianni and John (Luise) Lauzon; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; her siblings, Thomas (Myrna) Lauzon, Joseph (Lorraine) Lauzon Jr., Joan (Gabe) Bennetts, and Gertrude Sullivan; her in-laws, James and Annabell Sullivan; and her brother-in-law, James Sullivan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 10, 2026, at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with the Mass beginning at 12:00 p.m., celebrated by Rev. Brandon Oman. A reception will follow in Cathedral Hall, and burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
