Barton “Bart” Boule
ISHPEMING, MI – Barton “Bart” Boule, age 71, longtime area resident, passed away on Monday April 6, 2026 at his home while in the loving care of his wife and daughter.
Bart was born in Kankakee, IL on June 18, 1954, son of the late Edwin J. and Rita M. (King) Boule. Growing up, Bart’s family moved from Illinois, to Texas, and then to the Milwaukee area where he graduated from James Madison High School in Milwaukee with the class of 1971. He eventually made his way to the UP where he found his place to call home. Bart worked in the Bell Hospital Maintenance department from 1979 until his retirement in 2014. He married his wife Julie Morcom on June 30, 1990. They shared over 42 years together including 35 in marriage.
Bart enjoyed playing in the Ishpeming Men’s Pool and Horseshoe Leagues, besting others in Jeopardy, and embracing nature and all the lessons that it taught him throughout his life. Bart fulfilled his lifelong dream of building his loving home and wilderness sanctuary tucked on his beautiful 40 acres. He found his joy in nature, and many of God’s creatures annually returned to visit his waterside home.
Bart is survived by his wife: Julie (Morcom) Boule, daughter: Randi Jo (Tony) Baker, 3 siblings: Edwin (Cyndie) Boule, Lawrence Boule, Sue Boule, mother-in-law: Mary Morcom, 2 brothers-in-law: Larry (June) Morcom, Sam (Carol) Morcom, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was welcomed home by his parents, brother: Stephen Boule, his father-in-law Sherwood Morcom, his sister-in-law Nancy (Don) Loven, and his beloved dog Argus.
Bart’s family will greet relatives and friends for a celebration of his life at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home on Saturday April 11, 2026 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A service celebrating Bart’s life will follow the greeting period at 2:00pm. Burial will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery at a later date.
Bart’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at UP Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful and affectionate care given to him.
Bart will be remembered for his love of nature, love for his family, wisdom, and ingenuity. He will be forever in our hearts.
