Anne Recchio Curtice
GWINN, MI – Our beloved mother, Anne Recchio Curtice, 92, passed away at home peacefully on Good Friday, April 3rd, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Anne was born into a large Italian family, June 8, 1933, in Rome, NY to Vespuzio (Steve) and Victoria (Liboria Gratch) Recchio. She was the seventh of nine children.
In 1951 she graduated from Rome Free Academy, Rome, NY, and on November 22, 1951 married her Soldier Boy of 69 years, Peter Cooper Curtice. She devoted much of her life to supporting his 28
year career in the USAF and raising her family of four children.
Some of their assignments included a tour in the Philippines, three tours to Germany, and several Air Force bases throughout the United States where she worked in civil service eventually retiring after holding the position of secretary to the Base Commander at KI Sawyer AFB.
Anne was a devout Roman Catholic and a member of St Anthony Parish in Gwinn. She was a prayer warrior who loved the Rosary, reciting it numerous times throughout the day. She looked forward to
the weekly Saturday evening Mass, visiting with her parish family, and telling Father Sebastian she loved him more.
Our Annie Babe had many interests which included traveling, especially long roadtrips in their Airstream, walking, cross country skiing, bike riding, dancing, gardening, and cooking for her family. She was involved in several organizations and clubs throughout her life and was a devoted mother and grandmother attending the many activities of her family.
She especially looked forward to Wednesday afternoons, spending time with the Gwinn Merry Mixers at the Senior Center. Her many friendships, new and old, are a true testament to her loving character.
Granny Annie loved her family and family always came first. She is survived by her four children, Lynne Wilson (Chris) of Walnut Creek, CA, Cora Curtice (John Zeits), Sheri Curtice-Young (Steve Young), Peter Curtice II (Tara Farnsworth) all of Gwinn, MI, ten grandchildren, Johanna (Tom), Joshua (Sandy), Sean (Gusshie), Michael (Ashley), Jered (Veronica), Jesse (Melissa), Ian (Nicole), Caitlin (Jacob), Cooper (Sydney), Emily (Cade), 10 great grandchildren, her sisters-in-law, Marion Recchio and Virginia Recchio of Rome, NY, and brother-in-law Aaron Curtice of Manchester, CT, along with several nieces, nephews,
and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Peter Cooper Curtice.
