Anita Joanne Freeman Gregory

Anita faced her last illness head-on, with great courage and bravery, just as she had faced all other adversities in her life. (Minutes before she passed away, with typical “Anita” humor, she joked with those around her that she could, “…use a rum and coke.”)

Anita Freeman was born in Louisville, KY, on May 25th, 1969. She graduated from Negaunee High School in 1987. Afterward, throughout her life, Anita travelled extensively, was an award-winning pool player, and worked at various jobs, including, but not limited to, being a factory hand, and working as a nursing aide.

In addition to her paternal and maternal grandparents, her beloved son, Cody Martin Freeman, and her father, George Martin Freeman, preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Alice Marie Freeman, of Negaunee, MI; her brother, Daniel Lee Freeman, of Marquette, MI; two sons, Andrew James Freeman of Ishpeming, MI, and Zachary Edwin Freeman of Seguin TX; two grandchildren, Peyton Lynn White Freeman, and Rowen Freeman; a step-granddaughter, Raven Dixon; a former husband, Michael Gregory of Ishpeming, MI; and a host of other dear family and friends.

Burial will take place in Negaunee Cemetery.
