William Hubert Langford

Bill, as he was known to his friends, was born on September 29, 1948, at Scott Field Air Force Base to Hubert and Rosalie (Martin) Langford. He was a proud graduate of Messmer High School in Milwaukee. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War. He then re-enlisted for a second tour.

On August 9, 2009, Bill was married to Marjorie Romas on their property in Ishpeming Township.

While in high school at Messmer, he began riding broncs and later in life he added bulls to the mix. He continued with the rodeo throughout his life, becoming professional and traveling for 22 years around the United States and Australia.

Bill was an active participant in local Native American pow wows and cultural events. Bill also had a deep appreciation for history. He participated in numerous rendezvous re-enactments (pre 1840’s) and was skilled at Iron forging, and a gifted storyteller. He was also a dedicated member of Disabled American Veterans, reflecting his continued commitment to his fellow servicemen and women. Later in life he joined the Hiawatha Amateur Radio Association of Marquette (HARA) and served on the Ares Committee where he helped with emergency preparation for the area.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Langford; his daughters, Jennifer (Glenn) Devoe and Bridget Langford; his stepdaughter, Nicole Maki; his cherished grandchildren, Aurora and Vincent Maki, and Erin Beasley; and his brother, Charles Langford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Rosalie Langford; and his son, Raymond Langford.

A service for Bill will be held at a later date and will be announced.
