Vernon D. “Bud” Norman

ROCK, MI – Vernon D. “Bud” Norman, age 87, of Rock, MI, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming.

Bud was born on June 14, 1938, in Forsyth Township, MI, to John and Evelyn (Wilson) Norman. He was a proud graduate of Rock High School, class of 1956.

On October 12, 1957, Bud married the love of his life, Diana M. Erickson, at Gwinn Methodist Church. Together, they shared 68 beautiful years of marriage, centered on faith, family, and unwavering devotion to one another.

Bud dedicated many years of service as a lineman for UPPCO before retiring. In addition to his professional career, he was an ordained minister who faithfully served others by officiating numerous weddings, baptisms, and funerals throughout the years.

Bud had a deep love for the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He was also a devoted Green Bay Packers fan. He proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Forsyth Township Fire Department.

Above all, Bud was a devoted family man. He cherished time spent with his loved ones and was instrumental in establishing the annual Norman family campouts; a treasured tradition that continues to bring generations together.

Bud is survived by his children, Jay (Chris) Norman, Kathy (Ron) Pickett, Dennis Norman, and Terry (Niki) Norman; his grandchildren, Beau Norman, Hannah Holsworth, Amber (Joe) Braun, Ashley (Aaron) Dagenais, Arianna (Kyle) Fadness, Tyler (Kelli) Norman, Tanner (Heather) Norman, Cody Norman, Jonah (Hailey) Norman, and Chloe (Kyle) Wiersma; and his great-grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb, Ailee, Anja, Micah, Corbin, Blake, Raelynn, Jace, Cade, Thea, Maddie, Leni, Archer, Rory, Violet, and Natalie. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Stella Norman, along with numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diana M. Norman, on December 11, 2025; his parents, John and Evelyn Norman; his brother, Marvin Norman; his twin sister, Verna Cheshire; and his younger brother, Gilbert Norman.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, March 28, 2026 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the 906 Community Church. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. at the church, with Pastor Scott Leutz officiating. A light social will immediately follow in the church. Burial will take place at Gwinn Cemetery in the spring.
