Samuel A. Beckius
MARQUETTE, MI – Samuel Albert Beckius, Lance Corporal USMC, chose to leave this world on 9 March 2026.
Sam was 29, but he lived such a life. He traveled abroad and learned a second language. He loved the outdoors and embraced it through running, biking, hiking, and sailing. He had the heart of a poet, which found voice in his writing and music. His room was filled with books and plants, his garage with classic cars in mid-repair. He loved and was loved, by his family, his friends, by the animals of the Dubuque Humane Society, and by everyone who ever knew him. He possessed the deepest wells of empathy. No list could encompass his countless facets or the sadness that fills the void of their absence. He is missed.
Sam is survived by his parents, Reginald and Treva Beckius; brothers, John (Saralyn) Beckius and Aaron Beckius; grandfather, Everett Beckius; grandmother, Carolyn Johnston; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Janet Beckius, and his grandfather, William R. Johnston.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, 28 March 2026 from 9am to 11am at Grandview Methodist Church in Dubuque, IA. A Memorial service will be held at 11am in the church with Rev. Tom Shinkle officiating.
Luncheon to follow. Internment will take place at 2:30pm the following day in Highland, WI at the Highland Public Cemetery.
