Melany (Arntsen) Nelson

Melany was preceded in death by her parents George (Ron) and Mary (Jean) Arntsen of Marquette. She is survived by sisters, Trina Arntsen Young (Jim Young), Rhonda Arntsen, nieces Hadley Young (Aaron) and Lucy Arntsen, nephew Andrew Young (Leah), her beloved dogs, extended family and friends.

Melany was born in Huntsville, Alabama in 1969 and moved to Marquette with her family in the mid 1970’s. There, she fell in love with dance and pageantry. After graduating from Interlochen Arts Academy, Melany opened the Third Street Dance Company where she taught and inspired many young dancers. She participated in local pageants, was crowned Miss Superiorland and went on to compete in the Miss Michigan pageant. Melany loved animals, the arts and believed in equal rights for all.

Melany resided in Minnesota and Florida before returning to Marquette in 2022.

At her request, there will be no services.
