Judith P. Fry
MARQUETTE, MI – Judith P. “Judy” Fry, age 78, walked on into eternity, Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Mill Creek Assisted Living, in the loving, comforting care of her family and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Judy was born February 13, 1948 in Munising, a daughter of John William and Marjorie Anne (Thomas) Scheiding. Judy was raised in Marquette and was a graduate of Bishop Baraga High School.
On October 9, 1982, Judy was united in marriage to Samuel Lee Fry and together the couple made their home in Marquette, then to the Dead River Basin where many wonderful memories were made with family and friends and then back to Marquette.
Judy was employed and retired from the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training after many years. Judy was a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. Judy with her husband Sam dedicated years of their retirement to The American Red Cross helping with disaster relief where they made many new friendships throughout the country.
Judy was a devoted, loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Judy is survived by her children, Tammy Lyn Arvon, Gene Norman Tuimala, and Sammy (Lisa) Fry; her grandchildren, Christopher Tuimala, Ashley (Ethan) Locke, Richard Fry, and Glenn (Ashley) Fry; and her great-grandchildren were the light of her world, Jayce Tuimala, Arabella Locke, Lilly Locke, Henry Fry, Adalynn Fry; sisters, Linda Scheiding (Dale) DePetro and Cheryl Scheiding (William) Quayle; brothers, William Scheiding and Ronald Scheiding; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel Lee Fry; an infant son; John Todd Tuimala; and brother, Gregory Lee Scheiding.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Christopher Catholic Church on Saturday, March 21, beginning at 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon with Rev. Dan Moll, pastor, as celebrant. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery in the Spring.
