David John Belmore
MARQUETTE, MI – David John Belmore, 78, of Marquette, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, February 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
David – quite possibly the world’s most agreeable man- was born on October 10, 1947, to Edward and Dorothy Belmore. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary Josephine Belmore, who passed away in 2023; his brother, Edward Belmore; and his sister, Mary Manning.
He is lovingly survived by his son, Jeffrey (Melody) Belmore of Skandia; his “Baby Girl”, Jessica (Adam) Smith of Marquette; and his treasured grandchildren, Lilybelle (Bradley) Kindness and Jackson Belmore, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
While some measure success and material possessions, David measured his life in love. Though he left behind little in worldly means, he was among the richest of men in what truly matters-a devoted family, who absolutely loved and adored him, and dear friends with whom he shared countless happy hours playing cards, fishing, camping, and gathering at their cozy beloved camp on Pike Lake.
Anyone who met David loved him. He was humble, generous, gentle, patient, and unfailingly kind. His steady presence and warm spirit made the world a better place.
Though this world feels a little colder without him, David was confident in the Bible’s promise found at John 5:28, 29. His family finds comfort in the hope of being reunited with him again, along with his beloved wife, in the days to come.
