Cristina L. Anderson

ISHPEMING, MI – Cristina L. Anderson, age 53, longtime area resident, passed away on Wednesday March 25, 2026 at her home.

Cristina was born in Lansing, MI on September 27, 1972, daughter of William Burnham and Roxanne Hoppes. She grew up in the Portland area and was a graduate of the St. Patrick Catholic School with the class of 1990. Cristina furthered her education at Northern Michigan University where she graduated with a degree in sociology. She married her husband of nearly 21 years on May 21, 2005. Cristina worked as a paralegal before deciding to stay home to take care of her family and raise her children.

In Cristina’s younger years, she enjoyed dance while growing up, playing basketball and softball in high school, she served as coordinator for International Experience where she assisted in matching foreign exchange students with homes. Cristina was involved with Girl Scouts her entire life, where she served as assistant troop leader, and passed on the scout tradition to both of her daughters. She loved to try new things, including being a realtor, and Tupperware sales, always excelling until she got bored and picked up her next venture. Cristina enjoyed ice skating, arts and crafts, scrapbooking, painting, reading especially her favorite author Dan Brown, spending time with her family, she was extremely chatty and if there was something to talk about, she would make many short conversations last for hours. She loved spending time in the woods, going for rides with her husband, and going to camp. Cristina loved all of her dogs, especially her service dog Alphie. She was always a pet person, passing on her love for animals to all her children.

Cristina is survived by her husband: Brandon Anderson, 3 children: Laine (fiancée Lexie Olson) Larson, Grace Anderson, Marra Anderson, father: William Burnham, mother: Roxanne Burnham, 3 sisters: Emily Burnham, Melissa Hebeler-Burnham, Tonya (Chad) Burnham-Pitsch, her best friend: Shawn Hodges, close foreign exchange students: Laura Schulte, Leona Egelkamp, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Cristina was preceded in death by her grandparents: Stanley and Joan Hoppes, William Burnham Sr. and Joyce Pauley, uncles and aunt: Luke Hoppes, Denise Hoppes, and Pat Hoppes, mother-in-law: Lorraine Anderson and loving parent: Gerald Scheurer.

Cristina’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home on Thursday April 2, 2026 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm finger foods will be served throughout. A rosary vigil will be held at 11:30am until the start of the visitation at 12:00pm. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm with Fr. Jernej Sustar officiating.

A graveside service will be held in Portland, MI in the spring or summer.
